Do You Hate the New Blogger Interface Too?

There's no denying that I am resistant to change - especially when the change is for the worse. Take the new Blogger interface, for instance. I must have at some point clicked the "Try the updated Blogger interface" link and brought this on myself but I don't remember doing so. At any rate, I HATE it! And not just a little bit. And not just because of my aversion to change. It really isn't an improvement in any way, shape or form that I can see and I have been posting way less often because it's so difficult and unpleasant.

If You Can't Say Something Nice . . .

On the other hand, I want to say that I am extremely grateful to Google for providing Blogger to us all for free. What a great opportunity for anybody to have a little piece of internet real estate! But the features of the old interface are so much better - why change? They say it's a sleeker design but to me it's sterile, unfriendly and not intuitive at all. Maybe I'm old.

How to Switch Back

The good news is that I accidentally found out how to switch back. There's a little checkbox next to some wording about Blogger in draft. Click that box and you should be using the old interface again. Happy blogging!

  1. I don't like the new interface either. I wonder what the chances are that they will let us keep the better one indefinitely...?

  2. Yeah, Vickie - I certainly hope they let us keep the old version. I cringe at the very thought of having to use the new one again. Why "fix" what isn't broken?

  4. Have you changed back, pikapal? I hope they NEVER remove the option of using the old version or I'm not sure what I'll do:(

  5. I've tried it twice and changed back both times. Maybe I'm old and resistant too, but what's the purpose of change for the sake of change? It's like Microsoft "upgrading" its software by moving a few things around so you have to go through another learning curve for very little in the way of actual improvement.

I'm grateful to Blogger, too, for having a free place to blog. But I don't understand why they made the new interface so blah in appearance and function. I don't "hate" it, but what's to love?

  6. Thanks for chiming in, yayacanada. Tried it twice, huh? I'm still traumatized from my first awful experience with the new interface - I sure don't want to try it again! And I hear you loud and clear on MS software upgrades - I'd still use the version from the mid-late '90s if I could get a way with it.:)

  7. And what about the message that pops up with Google asking if they can pinpoint my physical location. What for?

  8. OMG!!! I go away for a day and when I get back, I've been involuntarily switched over to the new interface again, which I HATE!!! But under the little thing on the upper right that looks like a gear or something is the option for the old interface. So I clicked it and am back to normal - for now. But I fear it is temporary and that soon I will not have the option. This sucks! The new interface is hard to navigate and it is UGLY!!! Blogger - GET A CLUE!!! WE ALL HATE IT!!!

Now that I have all that off my chest, the reason for a physical location escapes me. I sure don't need to know where anyone is and they certainly don't need to know where I am. I suggest you make something up.:) Thanks for stopping by, Betsy!
